I'm extremely afraid of going to the dentist due to bad experiences in the past and having a low tolerance to pain. This is why I've been putting it off for years. I was experiencing some pain so I couldn't hide any longer and booked an appointment with Polished General Dentistry in Carlsbad. They were AMAZING! So kind, patient, listened and genuinely cared. Lisa who did my teeth cleaning was gentle and communicated the entire time to make sure I was ok. Dr. Shelton was extremely helpful, teaching me a lot about caring for my teeth and made me feel SO happy I picked them (out of 40 dentists I researched). I'm so happy to have a dentist I can trust.

All right, let's be real here people - who actually likes going to the dentist? Nobody, right? You in the back row, put your hand down. You're ruining my argument. NOBODY, right? So that being said, Polished General Dentistry makes your dental excursions as painless and stress free as possible. I hadn't been to the dentist in YEARS when I first came here. I think they could see the nervousness all over my face. Why? Because I don't have a very good poker face. But they're also just very sensitive that way. They were extremely kind, and are super, duper patient with the five thousand inquiries I always have for them. I'm that annoying patient who will actually go back into the office after the staff thinks I've finally left and be like, 'wait, I just remembered one more question.' But the crew here doesn't make me feel bad about it. They have always been so helpful explaining things to me, and will even repeat and go over things again if I'm having trouble grasping it. I first came here last March and have been in a number of times since then. My mouth is a junk yard but they've been helping repair years of damage and one day I am going to have a beautiful mouth garden thanks to this crew.

I had not been to the dentist in YEARS. I am trying to get better at adulting so my colleague/friend recommended Dr. Shelton. So glad I decided to take the plunge--when I went in for my initial exam, I was concerned about my teeth and gums and started ugly crying-mini panic attack style...Leah and Dr. Shelton had great "chair side manner" and assured me that my mouth would be fine; that it was great that I had walked in the door to start caring for myself again! I got a cavity filled, have a deep cleaning scheduled, and got recommendations for tooth paste and floss and I am on my way to a great mouth again. BTW--COCOFLOSS IS AMAZING!!!!! The office is warm and inviting, the entire staff seems happy to be there and help. I am glad I found such a great place to go and my anxiety and fear was put to rest!

Great experience! I am a bit OCD and this office and team exceeded my expectations. Clean, friendly, honest, and even fun. Amber cleaned my teeth, humming while she worked, and she was very informative. It was the most gentle cleaning I've ever had. Normally it hurts when they measure your gums but not with amber, maybe partially because I have been flossing a little. Her and dr Shelton went into detail reviewing my oral health, recommending toothpaste and mouthrinse that fit my needs. It felt very personalized. Dr Shelton did find a few cavities. I love that she offered a higher quality filling option with and inlay. I did some research and she's right, the porcelain lasts way longer! So when I went back to get my porcelain filling the dr and assistant went over everything before starting. They did the coolest thing and took digital impressions. I had never had that done before and it was really cool to see my teeth outside of my mouth. I was able to see exactly how much tooth structure dr Shelton took away. Now that my cavities are taken care of I'm going to do some bleaching for my teeth. I have a tooth that is off color and no other dentist has ever offered a solution or even noticed it. I'm really excited to fix it. I've lived with this ugly tooth for most of my life since I hit it when I was 12 years old. I highly recommend dr Shelton and her team at polished general dentistry. I am excited now to go to the dentist and fix my dental problems. Thank you to the entire staff for taking care of me.

Dr. Shelton has officially gained a new dental patient for life. Her entire staff was inviting from the second I walked in the door. I was greeted by Kelly and Liz (Dr. Shelton's assistant) could not make me feel more comfortable. Dr. Shelton spent a lot of time with me and was patient when I asked her a number of questions. The office was clean and Dr. Shelton was extremely professional. Can't wait to have the perfect smile soon! Thanks ladies!

Dr. Shelton is the BEST dentist for your entire family. We all feel at ease and have trust that we'll be taken care of in the most professions and painless manner. My kids look forward to their appointment and have never been scared. I highly recommend Dr. Shelton - in addition, her staff is phenomenal! Genuinely nice and great at what they do. You'll never feel pushed or being "sold" additional services and the hygienists are very caring and calm. I enjoy going there and always trust that I will be ok.

We really had a great experience with Dr. Shelton and her staff! We are new to the area and were looking for a new dentist. My kids both had a positive experience having their teeth cleaned and checked (ages 10 and 12). And I did as well. The dental hygenist was very thorough, and comforting (I get a little anxious at the dentist). And the front office ladies were very sweet and accommodating. I am happy with the work that I've had done so far, and we will be using Dr. Shelton for all of our dental going forward! Thank you!!

I've always been afraid of Dentists! Dr. Shelton was amazing in walking me through the process of adding two caps to my teeth and making sure I was comfortable as she did the work. The staff, from the front desk to the Dental Assistants, were so NICE. At Polished General Dentistry they were able to make the caps in the office and put them on my teeth in one visit. At other Dentists I've had to have a temporary cap added and a week later have the permanent added, which causes twice the stress. I strongly recommend Dr. Shelton and her staff for any Dental work you need!

A good dentist is hard to find - you found one. Dr. shelton is a good and honest dentist. Not one to try and sell you all the cosmetic bells and whistles though if your interested she is happy to go over those. She has always worked with me, my poor teeth and budget to keep me in good dental health. I mean what more can you say about a Dentist that will come out to the parking lot in the rain (I'm not kidding) to hand me back my phone that got left in the chair before I drove off. Above and beyond. Describes Dr. Shelton.

Years ago I had two teeth bonded (tooth colored filling) the two next to the two front ones, for cosmetic reasons. Over the years they have chipped and haven't looked the best, last weekend I was eating a carrot at part of the bonding came off you can't tell in the before photo but believe me it wasn't pretty! Hands down the best dentist around, proof is in the picture!

100% amazing, she lives up to the hype and deserves all the rave reviews she has and more. I can wholeheartedly vouch for her after finding myself with an unexpected dental emergency while in Carlsbad. She fixed everything and she and her staff went above and beyond getting me in on the same day and turning my bad day right around. The office is small and friendly. I felt very comfortable and welcome when I arrived. Actually, I was so impressed and comfortable I am switching dentists and willing to drive from orange county to see her. A++ experience with everyone I encountered at this office! You guys are awesome!

I love Dr. Shelton and her entire staff. Everyone is friendly, upbeat, and professional. I have never felt stressed or rushed. The hygienists are efficient and gentle. I think she should rename her practice Polished Gentle Dentistry. Making an appointment 6 months in advance wouldn't work for me. If that is your only complaint or reason for not making an appointment, you lose.

We've been trying to select a new dentist since our move to San Diego from OC about 5 years ago. After a few very horrible experiences with dentists in the North County area we finally found Dr Shelton, thank goodness!!! The hygienist was thorough, gentle and pleasant, Dr Shelton was wonderful and I walked out of her office very, very pleased with my whole experience from start to finish. If you're looking for a dentist with an organized and friendly front desk, an honest and knowledgeable Dr, and a thorough comfortable cleaning, I couldn't recommend this place more.

Dr. Shelton is the best dentist you will ever find. I have had a lot of work done through her and she is always compassionate and gentle in the process. She puts her patients first which is rare these days. The staff is also very nice and sweet and also care about what you need. If you are looking for an honest, caring, patient dentist, you have found one in Dr. Shelton and I promise you can not go wrong with Dr. Shelton and you will not ever look back.

I have been taking my 95 year old friend to Dr. Shelton since she took over. He loves going to see her and is happy when he leaves because of the way he is treated. She is wonderful and so is her entire staff. They take great care and do great work. We are never rushed. Yesterday, my friend needed a root canal and they called from the front desk and got him in the same day. Last year, when he turned 95, he was greeted by the staff with a birthday balloon and a card signed by all. You can imagine how pleased he was. He had a tooth pulled last New Years and we had her cell number, which I used, to ask a question. She was right there to help even on New Years Eve. I highly recommend Dr Shelton!

Since my last visit I needed a emergency root canal and crown. Without any hesitation, Kelly got me in right away! The entire procedure was painless and all of the staff was extremely friendly! Kelly and Pam got all of my insurance information and the all of the financial aspects in line for me. Klaudie (not sure how to spell), the assistant was informative and caring. Dr. Shelton continues to show a warmth and kindness I have never experienced at another dental office. A few weeks later, Amber cleaned my teeth and was very gentile and thorough! Highly recommend this office! **Old review** I truly am not exaggerating when I say, Dr. Shelton is the best dentist I have had in my existence. I have had multiple bad experiences in the dental office growing up. However, Dr. Shelton put me at ease from the moment I met her. She is so relaxed, patient, kind and understanding. Everything that I would look for in a dentist and more. Not to mention, she has hands of an angel. I have received multiple fillings and Invisalign. I am so happy with my results. I plan on being a life patient, as long as she allows me. I am looking forward to seeing her and her southern charm, my next appointment.

Dr. Shelton is the best! I've never actually enjoyed going to the dentist before (and, ok, to be fair I still don't...) but Dr. Shelton and her team make it as quick and painless as can be. The office is incredibly modern (and clean) and the staff is very polite, and you never feel like you're rushing you out to make room for the next patient. What really sets this place apart, though, is Dr. Shelton - she takes time to understand your situation and works with you to fix whatever issues you have and, better still, helps educate you to prevent future problems from popping up down the road. Can't recommend this practice enough - if you're looking for a dentist in the Carlsbad area, she's the best there is :)

Dr. Shelton offers such a positive experience! Her staff, Kelly, Robin, Pamela helped us plan our dental care, and all was an easy button. Coming in last year was under such rough dental circumstances. Dr. Shelton was patient and quick, and very thorough. So I stopped in to see Dr. Shelton at her new dental office. She is my Invisalign doctor and so I had to come check out her new office and I am in love. It's in the same building as the office I originally met her in when I started my treatment. Super cute modern office. I went in during the holiday season and it was decorated super cute. Anyway I digress; I was pleased to see that the front office staff who helped me were super sweet and made the whole process a breeze. They helped me with getting all my paperwork and insurance figured out as well as getting my case transferred over. But truly the best part of it is being able to see a dentist who I trust and respect. I know all my questions are going to be answered but never in a way that makes me feel dental stupid. I love that!
