Dr. Paul Dougherty, in his clinic Dougherty Dental, offers comprehensive dental solutions, from regular cleanings to advanced restorative treatments. Dr. Dougherty has practiced dentistry in La Jolla for more than 25 years. Preventative, minimally invasive dentistry is the backbone of his established restorative practice. He completed his Bachelor of Science, Microbiology, and DDS, from the University of Oklahoma in 1982 and 1896 respectively. Dr. Dougherty finished General Practice Residency at San Diego Veterans Administration Hospital.
The Dougherty Dental clinic also offers the services of another expert, Dr. Scott O. Szotko. Dr. Szotko graduated in 19991 from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and specializes in adult restorative dentistry and cosmetics. He uses the latest technology and materials to help restore smiles and replace missing teeth. He has served on the board of directors for The Dentist Service Company, a new company that helps dentists professionally.

By far the best Dentist in San Diego. Dr. Dougherty is very knowledgeable and keeps up on all the latest techniques. Recently had a crown fall off, drove right over and after a short 10 minute wait he fit me in and it 15 minutes, it was cemented by in. Dr. Dougherty and the whole staff are so friendly. Dr. Dougherty was my dentist in the early 90's to 1995 before I moved away from California. He did three gold onlays or inlays (I'm not sure of the difference) in back molars that have given me 20 years (so far!) of trouble free service. I have had problems with other traditional large fillings that were done by other dentists. These other amalgam fillings have discolored surrounding tooth and some have broken. Dr. Dougherty also extracted my four wisdom teeth. Dr. Dougherty is a dental artist and a caring and gentle practitioner. If I lived anywhere near San Diego, I'd still go to him. He is the BEST dentist I ever had and his dental skills stand the test of time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dougherty since the 80's, except for a short time I had dental insurance and went to another dentist who did not do a good job. I returned to Dr. Dougherty and he was able to completely redo the other dentists work. That was 18 years ago, and I haven't had any problem since. I find his staff to be the best I have encountered in my lifetime, especially my hygenist Heidi. I would recommend his practice to everyone, but be prepared for La Jolla prices!
