Dr. Wiesen came recommended to me by my dentist. I was really nervous about having the periodontal work done but Dr. Wiesen was really patient and explained everything to me. He was very personable and calm/relaxing. He was very gentle and talked me through the procedure so I always knew what was happening. It's been almost a year and my check-ups have been positive. Dr. Wiesen and his staff are wonderful.

My expectation is always over-exceeded every single time I see Dr. Wiesen. I needed a couple gum grafts and both procedures were very smooth and successful with beautiful results. Dr. Wiesen has gentle hands and made me feel very calm during the surgeries. He went over series of documents on what to expect prior to my procedures - extremely meticulous and professional! He then followed up with phone calls post-procedures to make sure I'm comfortable. I definitely would recommend him to anyone! Oh, btw - I'm not Dr. Wiesen's alter ego ;-) I always question when one states "I don't need the drama.."

Dr. Wiesen Rocks. I had a very crappy deep root cleaning, which later got real bad and left a 8mm hole that ate into my bone. I have aggresive periodonto-what-so-call-it. My gums have been bleeding since i was 14, got treated with dr. wiesen at 26. So yes... it was expensive, but to me, had to be done. i had bleeding gums everywhere, with needs of bone graft left and right. i did the research and had 3 opinions from dentist who all said Dr. Wiesen's procedure sounds about right. their findings match what dr. wiesn has as well. surgery was a breeze, wiesen's bedside manners are awesome. He does this awesome thing of pinching your cheeks real hard and talking u thru it so that injections are barely felt. since then, i've been returning to Dr. Wiesen for visits. each time has been a joy. i wished he would take on regular dental visits, but he's a specialist. in the least his office takes cares of cleanings. i live in San Jose now. i travel up to SF to get my teeth cleaned. I still have trouble managing my teeth, but they are far much better than the days of yore.

Dr. Wiesen did a gum surgery for me, that I needed before I got veneers done. He lifted the gum line on 6 of my teeth. He was very kind, very gentle and really nice as well. I felt very comfortable with him even though I was nervous about the procedure. It was easy and everything healed well.

Damn it. Ten years after a painfully memorable first bout with gum recession that last number meant it was time for round two. Awesome. Dr. Wiesen was recommended by my dentist. All the positive yelp reviews were a good sign. Optimism. Just a bit. Immediately knew I was in good hands. Staff was welcoming and attentive. Office clean and comfortable. Dr. Wiesen engaging, patient and thorough. He gave his recommendation. He asked my permission to do it. Signed the forms. Crossed my fingers. Tried to enjoy the view out the window while he went to work. Then nothing. As in barely any pain. No bleeding in the days after the surgery. No swelling. Nothing. Except lots of ice cream. Doctors orders. Week later was my follow-up. Stitches were falling out and I was a bit worried. There was no need. It's because everything was healing perfectly. Never want to go through this again. But if I do I won't be nervous. I won't be worried. I won't be apprehensive. I will however go back to Dr. Wiesen. You should too.

Gum surgery sucks, but if you have a Doctor like Mark Wiesen, YOU CAN DO IT! Get it over with. Stop procrastinating! Dr. Wiesen is gentle, knowledgable and meticulous in every aspect. At first, I felt like he was treating me like a child, but I quickly realized how much I needed and appreciated his careful explanations and calming reassurances. He's incredibly caring and not at all condescending. Aside from all the psychological support, he did an excellent job on my gums and I'm very happy with my results. His staff reflects his professional values. Gum surgery was the worst dental procedure I've ever had (mostly due to the recovery period), but Dr. Wiesen was BY FAR the best dental professional I've ever been to.

Dr. Wiesen is a true professional and has a great group of people working with him. He is caring, sensitive, excellent at his profession and is simply fantastic. I feel very lucky to have been referred to him for treatment.

I found Dr. Wiesen when I had to consider getting a gum graft. Thank god for the referral, he is wonderful! I ended up using him for the graft surgery, he was super. He is kind, extremely knowledgeable, he is always on time, highly professional. He actually called on the night of the surgery at home, to make sure all is well. And the graft worked better than expected. I would highly recommend him and his office. Oh, and my long time very favorite dental hygienist Angela is at his office as well.

I pretty much loathe all dentistry (and therefore, all dental professionals), but I somehow walked away from my periodontal work actually really liking Dr. Wiesen.....which is shocking and says a LOT about how great Dr. Wiesen is. He's highly competent, patient, understanding, efficient, and great at communicating the options & issues. I would send my friends & family to him for sure! The only bummer is that he requires you have a ride home (other than a cab by yourself) if he gives you any nitrous oxide, but I can hardly blame him in our litigious society. May we all never need a periodontist again!

I went to Dr.Wiesen because I had an infection in my back tooth. My regular dentist recommended me to him. After examination Dr.Wiesen recommended me to have a deep cleaning to have a healthier gums. Everything went well, he is very professional, precise and gentle. I had the procedure in two times. After six weeks I had a quick gum surgery to remove some extra gum that was on my old silver filling. I used to bleed at this area but not now anymore ( and overall ! ). Two month later, I texted him during the weekend about something suspect about my gum and he answered me quickly with all the recommendation to maintain the area and it doesn't bleed anymore ! I highly recommend Dr. Wiesen to anyone who have gum procedure to be done !

I was referred to Dr. Wiesen by my dentist. I was apprehensive and hesitant initially, but after my consultation with Dr. Wiesen, and my subsequent surgeries, I was very happy with the results. He and his staff are very easy going and pleasant. Although he is a bit pricier than other periodontists, you do get what you pay for.

I inquired on Yelp about the price of full crown lengthening and the best way to go about it. Dr. Wiesen called me and was extremely honest and transparent. I really appreciate it!

Having a gum graft is scary stuff. Dr. Wiesen, however, made the procedure as smooth as can be. He is extremely professional, meticulous, and the results were picture perfect.

I was in need of periodontist at the advice of my general dentist and after firing the specialist he referred me to in West Portal (one of those offices that has many doctors sharing the front office staff), I luckily found Dr. Wiesen on Yelp. I've been with Dr. Wiesen going on two years and he's successfully performed two complex procedures. I find him to have a personal level of care that is rare in today's managed health care culture. I found he also had a gentle touch and wasn't afraid to suggest new innovative methods and procedures. Also, Dr. Wiesen's support staff--medical assistants, appointment setters, and billing staff--are really top drawer. They recognize your name and remember you as a person. They go beyond the call of duty where they can--such as coordinating billing with insurance companies and coordinating appointments with a primary dentist. (This is refreshing as support staff are so often the weak link with decent doctors these days.) I would recommend Dr. Wiesen to anyone needing periodontal treatment.

Even though my gum surgery was almost 10 years ago (the painful part was the price, $10,000 for two quadrants and I have no insurance), I still go back to Dr. Wiesen every year for a cleaning just because I like him and his receptionist/office manager Vanessa so much. My surgery went perfectly and my gums have been healthy ever since. Also, he consistently has the BEST hygienists in San Francisco--they don't babble the whole time they clean your teeth and they don't lecture. I recommend Dr. Wiesen and his staff to anyone who needs periodontal work or just a cool place to go to the dentist.

This place is FANTASTIC I was referred to Dr Wiesen by Dr Serdar. When I first visited the office I was very nervous and scared as to what was going to happen. I was greeted by Vanessa who was extremely nice and pleasant which helped put me at ease. After filling out some papers and waiting about 15 min, I was called to see Dr Wiesen. During the exam he was very gentle and made sure not apply too much pressure to the effected area. He informed me that I would need to have a bone graft done and explained everything in great detail. When surgery day came I was again very nervous, but Dr Wiesen, Vanessa and the staff quickly put me at ease. The procedure was quick and painless, and everything went smoothly. I have gone back to see Dr Wiesen for followup appointments and cleaning, and even though I don't always see Dr Wiesen, the staff is always very pleasant and informative. It has been about 4 years since the procedure and my graft is still holding up. In the last 2 years, I have had a change in insurance and am very sad that I am not able to see Dr Wiesen anymore, but if that situation ever changes I will be back in a heart beat. If you need a periodontics this is the place to go. Dr Wiesen, Vanessa and the rest of the staff are the best, you will not find a more pleasant, caring and professional environment than here.

I had surgery today at Dr. Wiesen's office, and I have to say it was the best medical experience I've ever had. Yes, it hurts. Yes, it's scary. Yes, it's expensive. But Dr. Wiesen was so gentle and explained everything so well, I was really amazed that something I had been dreading ended up being so much easier than I expected. He was supportive, kind... even texted me at the end of the day to check in and reassure me that I could call his cell anytime over the holiday weekend if I had concerns! All in all a positive experience, and I can't say that about many dental chairs. Thank you, Mark!

Let me start off by saying I hate the dentist. Seriously, hate them. As a matter of fact, when I first scheduled an appointment with my regular dentist to get crown lengthening surgery (and yes, it is as bad as it sounds) I was so nervous that I couldn't eat and almost passed out prior to the appointment. Okay, so maybe I am a little dramatic but I just don't handle dental situations well. So, when a coworker recommended Dr. Wiesen as being the best she had ever seen for her gum surgery I had to check him out. For the first time I was with a periodontist that made me feel calm. He walked me through every single step and understood how terrified I was of this procedure. By prescribing me an anti-anxiety med prior to the visit (smart man) and being incredibly gentle I can honestly say that I was almost sad to leave. I wish Dr. Wiesen could handle all my dental needs, but sadly that is not the case. Hopefully I won't have to go back but if dental drama hits me in the future I am without a doubt headed to Dr. Wiesen asap.

I visited Dr. Wiesen's office yesterday for a gingival graft consultation and I was absolutely blown away by my incredibly positive experience. Here are my initial thoughts - I'll be sure to check back in after my procedure. First, the reception area was very quaint, clean, and charming. And the staff at the front desk were super-friendly and courteous and just full of smiles. Immediately, I could see how efficient and organized the office was. And I greatly appreciate any office that is well organized, yet still inviting. Dr. Wiesen was, by far, the most genuinely warm and kind medical professional that I have ever visited. I have no fear of dentists or periodontists or anything (in fact, I quite like the experience), but Dr. Wiesen was very instructive and calm and gentle in every way. I'm sure that this technique or practice is very important to those who are fearful in these type of situations. He first calms you by empowering you - one of the first few words he said to me was, "You are in complete control here, I will respect and listen to your needs." Every step of the way, he let me know what he was going to do and what it meant and what was healthy and what was not. He is detail-oriented and thorough and I love that! Today, I received a letter from the office summarizing my exam and treatment suggestions -- and he hand wrote a few words to say, "Welcome, thank you for visiting, and I look forward to your business." It's a small gesture that says so much. If I was a periodontist, I would aspire to have the same type of practice with the same type of approach -- because my first experience as a new patient at Pacific Coast Periodontics with Dr. Mark Wiesen was absolutely incredible! Ok, I know all of this (especially the last paragraph) may sound ridiculously artificial and disingenuous, but I speak the truth my friends! And I am in no way affiliated with them nor compensated in any way. I just wanted to yelp! the facts! GREAT job folks, kudos!!!

Dr. Wiesen has preformed two crown lengthening procedures on me. If your not familiar with this procedure - it involves shaving down the bone in your jaw and removing a significant amount of gum in order to allow a crown to fit and adhere to what is left of a tooth. NOT a pretty picture if you're a scaredy cat like me at the dentist - not too mention the periodontist office! When I got the first crown lengthening Dr. Wiesen made me so relaxed just by talking me through the procedure. And when it came time to have the procedure, his bed side manner was phenomenal. He was calm and confident which made me calm and confident as well. At the time of the first procedure I lived in the city. A few years later I had moved to San Carlos (22 miles south) and found out from my dentist that I needed to have the same procedure done on another tooth (sigh). He recommended a great periodontist that he worked with that was local. Nope, I was going to go back to Dr. Wiesen. It would have been much easier to go to a local periodontist - especially since now I have a 2 year old and my husband would have to take off even more time from work etc in order for me to drag up to the city. I would have driven hours in order to back to Dr. Wiesen. Now, I live in southern California. Recently I had a very questionable procedure done at a dental office. I called Dr. Wiesen's office to get his professional opinion. Not only did he happily answer some concerning questions I had but he took quite a bit of time to do so. He is amazing at what he does. He truly cares about his patients. Not only is he the best at what he does technically - he's also an amazing human being. If I need more periodontal work you better believe that I will be heading back to San Francisco to see Dr. Wiesen.
