I just had my first visit to Greyling Dental this week and it was a great experience. I've been to a variety of dental offices over the years and Greyling did a great job of being professional, yet making the appointment personal and comfortable. Dr. Chu (and the staff folks I interacted with) were great; very warm, but most importantly she asked questions and listened. She pulled off the rare combination of instilling confidence, but at the same time not coming off as a "know-it-all" that is simply trying to dictate things to her patients. I'll reserve a full 5-star rating until I've had more time (visits) to more completely evaluate it. So far, so good. I feel I made the right choice.

This place is great, called me and my daughter a couple weeks before our scheduled appointment to let us know about an opening which we took. Comfortable office with very friendly staff, we didn't meet one person who wasn't fantastic to deal with. Meeting Dr. Vargas was a pleasure and really took the time to explain the needs and recommendations clearly and with respect to cost, necessity, and time. Both the Dr and the hygienist established a great rapport with my 15 year old right away. Highly recommend this place, in fact I'll be back soon for a cleaning myself.

Best place for my Family! Friendly and make my kids feel comfortable and have a great time all while getting their teeth cleaned. Love that it is right in the neighborhood. They also accept Tricare Dental!! Looking for a place for your dependents THIS THE PLACE!!

Not only does Dr. Vargas and her team go well beyond the support of your dental health, but they also do so while upholding one of the highest standards of service out there. Dr. Vargas spent so much time on my case to make sure that the best possible decision was being made, in addition to keeping in touch with me and calling in prescriptions even while she was out of town attending a conference. Dr. Vargas demonstrates superior judgement and customer service. I am very pleased and would recommend this place without hesitation!

Outstanding! I highly reccommend Greyling Dental. Dr. Vargas-Velasco is the best dentist I have ever been to. They take their time and explain everything they are doing. After my initial exam and cleaning I had a one hour consultation with Janice the next day, free of charge, where she explained exactly what needed done along with a complete breakdown of what the insurance covers and what I would cover. The breakdown was arranged in the order of priority. I was shown my x-rays and she patiently answered my many questions. They never berate you or give you a hard time about not taking proper care of your teeth. That in itself is excellent as that is a big part of the reason I haven't been to the dentist in a very long time. The staff is outstanding as well. Making the appointment went smoothly and I quickly received a welcome email . Very nice when you walk in and you immediately feel comfortable.

We just love this place! What a great staff that works here!! Mindy is the BEST dental hygienist I have ever had.. I have been to many!! Dr. Vargas is awesome.. she makes coming to the dentist fun! All the girls here rock! I am happy we found this place!!!

I've had a phobia about dentist for as long as I can remember. It seems I only end up in a dental chair when I have an emergency. Well I had an emergency. Broke my tooth and ended up at Greyling Dental since I live close by. Dr. Vargas and ALL her staff are absolutely without a doubt the best practice that I've been to. Very caring and sensitive to my fears. My heart was still pounding from being so nervous but with the help from the whole staff, I made it through the treatment. Dr. Vargas so cool. She even gave me her phone to listen to pandora while she worked. Mindy the hygienist so gentle. I definitely will be putting off my dental care any more.

All the ladies are great but I especially LOVE getting my teeth cleaned by Mindy. Not only is she thorough, she is also extremely considerate. She will make sure that you leave the office with a spotless mouth with as little discomfort as possible!

This review is to reiterate my previous 5 star reviews. This dental practice is - bar none - the best I've experienced in a very long time. I had a scheduled cleaning yesterday and because I typically need anesthesia for my deep root cleanings, I received a call from the dental office earlier in the day informing me that due to the doctor being out at a seminar, the hygienist would not be able to administer the anesthesia. However, they could still numb my gums with a non-anesthesia agent. I was a little nervous, but decided to keep my appointment. Mindy (Melinda) is the greatest dental hygienist I've ever been to. She understands how uncomfortable I am during deep root cleanings, not only from a tooth sensitivity perspective but also because of jaw discomfort. The non-anesthetic agent she used was fabulous. Numbed my sensitivity areas to get the cleaning done. She took frequent breaks in the cleaning to allow my jaw to relax. I really appreciate how caring she is. By time I got home, all numbness was gone and absolutely NO soreness afterwards. I need to return for a quick checkup with the dentist when she returns, but as usual, they are accommodating to my schedule and assured there would be no extra charge. The office reception staff is just as polite and accommodating. I never dread going to the dentist! I highly recommend this dental practice and glad that I live so close by.

Friendly and courteous staff. They are very attentive to your concerns and I have had a lot of advice and suggestions for oral care while on my visit. Once I called and set an appointment I received a welcome email and once my appointment date got closer I received an email with all the required paperwork to be filled, a nice touch to be honest, because at my appointment I didn't have to do anything except show up. On the day of my appointment I was seen exactly on time. The dentist was really nice and took her time to make sure everything needed taken care of was done properly. Thank you. Oh and there is a million parking spots around unlike most of San Diego (Ok not a million but plenty).

This is a review in terms of their service only. I will avoid discussing any expenses I paid out of pocket as they are different with each person. I have been visiting them with any dental problems and check ups for just over a year, and they are the most wonderful group I ever had. Dr. Vargas has been kind, friendly, professional, and straightforward in taking care of my teeth. Her assistants are calming, reassuring, gentle, and always receptive to my needs. She has contacts/referrals that I can go to if they don't provide that service. I got a root canal done with one of her referrals, and it was the best root canal I ever had. Everything was explained perfectly and went smoothly; and her referral kept calling me to see how I was doing! You have to book an appointment about a month in advance as they are just about always full. They have a number for a dental emergency, but I never used it because I never needed it. That is my experiences with how Dr. Vargas and her assistance have treated me.

I just came back from getting some fillings done. Best fillings I've gotten. I am already scheduled for my next visit next week. I got to sit in a chair that had a little bit of a massage on it. That was surprising. The staff is super nice and easy to talk to. I love their up-to-date technology, from the little mouth camera to the lasers they use for the dental cleaning--awesome.There is a very bright vibe to the office and you can tell that people genuinely enjoying working there. I got sold on the toothbrush, and it was worth it. I'm looking forward to my next appointment.

This dental team is so flippin' amazing. I have had my dental work (plenty of cleanings and fillings) done at this office since Dr. Chu was here. Now that Dr. Vargas has taken charge for quite some time, my opinion still hasn't changed: the staff is insanely down to earth and professional. I had a filling that was done by Dr. Vargas and it didn't feel right for several weeks (highly sensitive to hot/cold and discomfort when chewing too hard). Dr. Vargas was so cool about it. After taking a look, in addition to x-rays, and determining that the filling wasn't up to standards, she took full responsibility for it. Let me say that in different words: she owned up to her mistake, fixed my filling (free of charge), and was 100% pleasant! So like I had said earlier, they're "down to earth" and "professional," but that is not what makes this dental practice so special. They are wonderful because they keep themselves accountable. They stand by everything they do, whether it be a cleaning or a procedure. They make me feel really cared for when I'm in the office and even when I'm simply on the phone with them. Thank you Greyling Dental for providing me with the best dental experiences I can ask for!

Exceptional service, prompt, friendly staff. I visited this doctor for a second opinion and am very glad I did so as now she will be my primary dentist! She is educational, drew me pictures so that I would best understand the work that needed to be done. I felt like an active participant in my dental work. Thank you for a comforting experience!

This dental group is incredible! They are highly skilled in their work, and to top it off, extremely kind and professional. I recently got a filling, and to say the least, I was nervous. I am not sure why, but it was pretty emotional for me at first (as in, crying like a baby over the thought, haha). That came out a bit before they even began the procedure, and they took the time to talk it all over with me, creating a very comfortable environment and a "raise your hand" policy if I felt even an ounce of discomfort or pain (which I did not). I am pretty grateful to have found a dentist in San Diego that sets those high standards, and makes me feel in good hands. Thank you Greyling Dental!

Just like most people, I have a fear of the dentist. I haven't seen a dentist in several years since I had moved to San Diego and decided to do some extensive research on dentists before visiting one. Stumbling upon Greyling Dental and especially Dr. Vargas has been the biggest blessing ever! The whole staff here really makes you feel at ease with their bubbly personalities and energetic vibe. I had numerous cavities fixed by Dr. Vargas and I can honestly say she is the most caring, gentle, and detail-oriented dentist I have ever had. She totally understood my fear of getting my cavities fixed and lent me her own iPhone to listen to music on to help ease my nerves during the procedure. Most doctors won't go to that level to make their patient comfortable. My initial procedure was suppose to take 2 hours, and ended up taking a bit longer (3.5 hours, which was totally my fault not the dentists fault). No matter how many other patients Dr. Vargas had that day, she made sure I was fully taken care of till the very end of the procedure. She never rushed to finish and spent such a great deal of care and diligence when fixing my teeth. She is super detail-oriented and wanted to make sure my new crown's coloring would end up perfect before sending it to the lab, and brought out a very high end camera to take detailed photographs of my tooth for the lab. None of my previous dentists would ever spend this much time or diligence with me! My absolute favorite thing about Dr. Vargas aside from being an amazing dentist, is she doesn't do any "tooth/cavity shaming" like other dentists do when you have cavities or teeth problems. I haven't been to the dentist in 4 years, and instead of lecturing me about how bad my teeth are or how irresponsible I am, she made me feel so comforted and welcomed to her practice! Thanks to Dr. Vargas, I no longer have a fear of the dentist! Thank you so much Greyling Dental for giving me the best dental experience ever!

Janice, the dental assistant, is one of the main reasons that I am writing this review. Her passion for her job and kindness is what turned a usually painful visit to the dentist wonderful. The dentists and hygienists are all very skilled and I am so very pleased that I discovered them through YELP, honestly, my old dentist isn't even comparable to these guys! I love it here, they were very clear in explaining what needed to be done and it was all just very professional. Thank you for making me have a whiter and nicer smile!
